F & R switch sparking when engaged

I am saying leaving the COIL ENERGIZED shortens it's useful life. That is different than leaving the key on. But, if the cart is mis-wired and leaving the key on does energize the solenoid....

Back from the dealer again. Ok, new solenoid, wireing errors straightened out (with schematics from dealer) and 38 volts at v-glide wiper brush but still no go! I'm lost. I have double checked all connections, wires, etc. Any ideas? I don't hear the new solenoid clicking when I turn the key on but 13 volts going through key switch circuit.

I am gonna get this volt stuff under my hat! Moved the red wire from the key switch to the #6 battery (36 volts) and we have ignition. When cleaning and repairing connections a few days ago I had to shorten the red wire due to installing a new connection. Well I just hooked it up to the nearest negative post never thinking it needed a full 36 volts to operate. Gimme the dunce hat I'll wear it a while. Can't wait to get offshore and pick the technician's brains about this stuff.

goin for a ride. gonna turn on the heater and check out the back of the property.

Good to hear you got it going.... Silly carts, 13 or 36 volts .... why they gotta be so picky

Had the same thing happen, to a point. I started to install the new solenoid about an hour ago, but while yes, it was fried, why were sparks coming from about a foot away. I checked it out because it took entirely too long to get a new solenoid in the first place. One of the F/R switch (where the sparks were) micros were, was 1/2 gone. Was reading this thinking well?... how did he?... then I saw the last post. So, maybe I'm heading in the right direction? If one of those sticks/explodes can it not really fry everything?.... (Sorry, 1st Post). Thanks.

The micro switches are so lightly made that they burn up like fuses in a shorted circuit. Usually not the cause but the victim.

Oh, okay. It was kinda sideways and melted to the housing. Its my 1st project, so I'm a little wary. Don't want to get zapped because I missed something. Thanks.
