Re: Anyone have experience with Plowmans 2 speed controller?
If I may ask, did you go a different route?

Re: Anyone have experience with Plowmans 2 speed controller?
I haven't done anything. I was completely sold on the 2-speed...then my brain started doing it's thing. It flipped to:
"motor....controller....2-speed....motor...controller....2-speed?" It's never ending...haha SHMO |

Re: Anyone have experience with Plowmans 2 speed controller?
Sorry for the delay but I did stop by and talk to Don about the 2 speed controller. Don installs this controller on all of his carts for reliability reasons. His high speed lifted carts excell with this 500 amp controller for top speed but without the controller at normal low speed operation the controller was getting way too hot. The switch Don uses is basically to lower the amps at low speeds and protect the controller. I have driven a few of Dons carts and they are excellent performers.

Re: Anyone have experience with Plowmans 2 speed controller?
Well I bit the bullet and got the 2 speed controller from Plowman's, it came in Thursday and will be 7/5/11( Tues) before I can get it installed ( waiting on paint shop to finish body). So, more details on the 5th or 6th......

Re: Anyone have experience with Plowmans 2 speed controller?
Well its in and I likes it.. I was a lil worried, but after a phone call to Plowmans we were able to get my cart back to running.
Short story: Controller came in, made appt. to install @ local cart shop, installed controller, and no worky , so we went over everything again, and jumped the solenoid and still no worky , so they went to replace the solenoid and one of the terminals stripped , so Today I called Plowmans and found we DID NOT have a full set of install instructions , so after some tech support , she be worky . GPS @ 22mph with aprox 60-70 % charged pak, hoping to pick up a lil more speed once I get the body back on and fully charge the pak... Factory speed was aprox 13mph fully charged pak.... Was it worth the $$$, yes.. Dealer charged me 3 hrs labor to install controller, new solenoid and build 2 ga wires for battery pak , solenoid and pak to controller cables .. .. Vic |

Re: Anyone have experience with Plowmans 2 speed controller?
Vic,
do you have any updates on the Plowmans controller? I'm wondering if you picked up any more speed with a fully charged pack. I would also be interested in knowing how cool the controller stays during use in the different modes. Did you see a big increase in available torque? How about posting some pics of your finished cart. I would love to see it. SHMO |

Re: Anyone have experience with Plowmans 2 speed controller?
I'm not really finished. I still have to have the seats redone and get my lights done . The guy who does my upholstery work is about a month and a half behind .. Torque is about normal, with maybe a lil bit more take off... As far as temp of controller, I haven't noticed any temp increases... By the way, this controller is huge, almost double the size of the factory one.... I'm very pleased with the results so far.. We're taking it to the farm this weekend and give a real good workout... Gonna scout some new deer stands..........................
