I was going to dust off the engine...
Hello,
I am in a bit of a pickle with my '04 Electric Club Car Precedent (pictured to the left, ain't she puuurty?) A few days ago I popped off the rear cap thing to take a look at my engine. I was shocked at how dusty/dirty the engine was. It was late so I put the cover back on and parked my cart and said goodnight. Today I got some paper towels and a screwdriver and tried to pop the cap off... only, the screws won't back out! I took a closer look and saw that they were spinning the little plastic grommet type thing that holds them. Even if I hold the grommet, the screws do nothing but spin and wont back out. I can't just pry the cap off because the screws are holding the grommets firmly in place and I don't want to break the cap either. The screws aren't stripped, but they are el cheapo plastic. Does anyone know how to safely get the cap off? I really don't want to ride around with that much debris on my engine and I'd like to be able to take the cap off in the future! |

Re: I was going to dust off the engine...
Are you referring to the plastic access cover that exposes the motor? That thing is a flimsy POS!! I finally just yanked mine off but want to find another way of re-attaching so this is easier to secure and open. Let me know if you find a better way!
Since my cart is still in surgery this is not a pressing issue for me to resolve yet, but your right............those screws are worthless. OT |

Another thought when you do finally get that access panel open is to "dust off" the motor with compressed air instead of paper towels.

Re: I was going to dust off the engine...
Thanks a bunch!
I was referring to the rear engine access panel. I guees I will just pry the screws out than use a compressor to blow the dust off. I have no experience with these screws because I just recently bought this cart and the DS I primarily used before it never even had any type of fastening bolts/screws/plastic junk to hold the rear access panel thing on! I'm trying to keep my new cart nice because it is too late to try to keep my DS nice! :P Thanks! |
