Default Seat Hitting tops of batteries

I have attempted to install a battery conversion kit purchased from Buggies Unlimited. It converts my 06 Precedent from 4 12s to 6 8s. I put in US Batteries 8V GC XV. I followed the instructions provided and I guess I missed something.

Now my seat comes in contact with the outer batteries.

There was a step in the instruction where I was asked and did cut the three places marked with an X in the instructions. They were just plastic tab, buzzed them down smooth to the floor of the battery box.

Anybody out there seen this one?

Called Tech and they are only there from 8 to 5, Monday thru Friday. Thats why i was looking for some weekend assistance.

My Son has me about half convenced into cutting the outer 4 trays and dropping the batts into the old 12's slots. But i was really hoping someone has been down this path before me.

One of my favorite sayings is;

When shopping at Buggies Unlimited you can never pay more but you can always get better...

In my opinion they are overpriced and don't really care about the consumer

For anyone else reading this thread, Club Car sells a factory kit for changing out 4-12's to 6-8's...

AM1275201 - Precedent 12V TO 8V Conversion Kit - $345
103368401 - Precedent Electric Battery Bucket Assembly - $71.10

Conversion package, when part numbers listed above are ordered together, includes all components and installation instruction necessary to convert a Precedent golf car to the 8-volt battery system. Components included are battery wires, hold downs, component mounting panel and shield, wire harness, charger receptacle, 4.0 OBC and safety decals. Batteries are not included!

Dave,
I suggest that you strongly consider using the CC conversion. I recently completed converting my 06 Precedent with the CC kit and it is easy following the instructions provided with the kit. If you are mechanically inclined and have a decent set of tools, you should have no problem. Contact TahoeDawgz71, he is a great guy to deal with and a great resource if a problem arises.

Yea I had to cut the new insert into three pieces. And I purchased a piece of composite board (plastic) and cut it to support the outer edges of the center piece. I posted pictures on my FB account.

If you FB shoot me your handle and Ill send a friend request and you can check out the pics of my solution. If you dont we can work something else out I am sure.

I came out really nice.

Hi gang,

I already got the BU kit, just didn't get around to installing it before we came back to Colorado (car is in Arizona).

THANKS for your input, I'll have to get the shortest batteries I can find, and be sure I've got my cut off wheels, hacksaw, BFH, and other misc weapons.
This is looking like one of those jobs where I measure with a micrometer, mark with a piece of chaulk, and cut with an axe!

Have fun, Dave
