No headlights and odd electrical behavior

i say it all the time.....one thing i have learned when you work on enough carts is sometimes you just have to put away the meters and books and just go by gut feeling......can,t tell you how many times i have had my meter tell me something that wasn,t so ( and i,m positive meter works ok ) or something in a manual didn,t make sense when testing something......only to find heck i was right put it away and go old school........................

No disappearing voltage...just no voltage differential at switch.

Like water the voltage has flowed throught the switch to the lights with the switch made. Shouldn't be troubleshooting that way anyway (across the poles of a switch) should be hunting voltage drops with black to battery ground and probing with red lead. Just my 02. It ain't rocket science. I've been repairing battery powered floor care equipment for over twenty years and ten repairing vending machines before that so I think I can use a meter.

All good info, fellers, thanks very much. This is just unfamiliar territory for me as 12V automobile wiring is so dang straight-forward. I need to "unlearn" a bit when working on this cart.

With any luck, this floor-switch will do the trick and I may not have to stare at the wiring on this cart for another few years!
