Default Lights on a 07 Precident

I was under the impression that I need to install a voltage reducer to install an after market light kit. I just talked to my Club Car parts guy and he said no. I have already used a voltage reducer on another 07 Precident with different lights and had no problem. Does anyone have info that can help me?

I have a Precedent (07) and the dealer did not install a voltage reducer. They just tapped off one of the 12 volt batteries. It's the one that has the negative cable going to OBC and on to the controller. Using that batter for your 12v + will give you the correct common negative.

FYI, it should be the front battery on the passenger side. If that doesn't work then I would suspect you have an open wire or a blown fuse in your system

I just installed lights on my 07 Precedent. From the directions, I concluded that you have an option of 12v. or 48v. with reducer. I went 12v. with mine since I did not have a reducer. There is a video on youtube showing the 12v. installation procedure. I would post it, but I haven't been a member long enough to post a link.

I have a 2004 Precedent and the set-up should be the same. My head & tail light instructions showed me how to use the existing harness and wire it to one battery. As Chipster said below it is the front one on the passenger side. Mine worked fine, but constantly pulling from one battery will eventually reduce the life of that battery.

You have 2 other options besides pulling from one battery in the pack.

1) Buy a 48v to 12v reducer that will pull from the entire pack and not hurt one battery, but it will reduce run time some when you have the lights on.

2) Add an auxiliary battery to power your accessories. This all depends on what all your planning to add to the cart. The more you add (stereo, amplifier, lights, horn, etc) the more an auxiliary battery makes sense.

I went with option 2 after pulling from the one battery for a few months due to adding other accessories.

Good luck!

Thanks guys. I have always used the voltage reducer but I think this time I'll try pulling off one battery and see how long it works for me.

Thanks again
