Re: alignment
I'm pulling to the right - am I on the right track with this diagram? Is it alignment I am having issues with?

Re: alignment
also check to be sure that the front axle is centered in the cart, it could be pushed to the left or to the right. also check to see that the axle is square to the cart, one side sitting farther back than the other.
after seeing what your old front tires look like i would aslo check the straightness of the front axle and the angles of the endlinks on the axle you may have something bent. |

Re: alignment
Am I missing something here? I have a spindle lift, so when I turn the tie rod tires go right to left, not vertically side to side ....
It seems no matter what I do it pulls right, unless the tires are WAY toed in.. Are tie rods supposed to be the same length on each side? Is there an easier way to accomplish this? I thought I had it, but the steering wheel was jacked so I started over - stupidly without marking the lengths of each side. |

Re: alignment
What I did on mine was align the front end and then take the steering wheel off and put it back on straight. You want about 1/4" toe-in on the front.

Re: alignment
Just to be certain - toe in means they are pointing towards each other but sit flat, correct?
or does it mean they sit straight, but "lean" towards each other? |

Re: alignment
Toe means the front of the tire is 1/4" closer than the rear of the tire. This should be measured from tire center line of the tread area.
The "lean" is set by the king pin angle when built. Center your steering wheel and secure it so it does not turn. Adjust the tie rods so both wheels go straight forward. Run a chaulk line around the center of your tire in the direction of the tread. Now measure the distance between the lines, front and back. Adjust each side equally so there is 1/4" difference front to back....front shorter. Some may have issues with having the 1/4" difference but they only moved one wheel and this sets the wheel off center and may cause a difference in the turning diameter from one direction to the other. I have laid a long straight edge along the rear tire and compared how the front tire sits. This can help give you an idea what is out........ It is easy to do.....just take your time and think things through. |
