Wiring 12 volt Horn to 36v system
Hello Everyone.. I'm a newbie from NC. Have 2001 EZGO 36v cart. Need advice on wiring a horn to the 36v system. I already have lights (already on it). I wired the horn to the foot switch, then to (2) of the batteries (neg./pos.). Horn sounds when I touch wire to battery terminal without utilizing the foot switch. I'm confused. Anyone have the answer??
Thanks Billy in NC |

Re: Wiring 12 volt Horn to 36v system
WELCOME Billy, The horn requires pos and neg juice to work. Either the pos or the neg must go thru the button which momentarily completes the circut when pressed Hope this helps.
Connecting lights and radios to 2 out 6 batteries can result in an uneven drain on the pack. Switch monthly from one pair to the next to avoid shortening the life of just one pair. It is kinda like rotating your tires....for batteries |

Re: Wiring 12 volt Horn to 36v system
Thanks "buckmanmike"!...I reversed them back and forth and it still does the same thing. I've got pos. to pos. and neg. to neg. on the foot switch. These goe directly to pos. and neg. on battery. Then they go from the foot switch to the horn. Maybe I have a bad switch???
Thanks for your responses! |

Sounds like a faulty switch.

If it has only 2 terminals they will both be in the pos line or both be in the neg line. |
