Default g22 engine overhaul

Has anyone bored a g22 .50 over and port and polished the head along with milling the head. I am in the process of getting this done. Curious on performance. Not going to invest big money into a Honda motor, just trying to squeeze as much as I can out of the golf Cart motor. Let me know. Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Doubt you'll get much more hp out of the engine (compared to a big block) but I'm sure there are several around here that have rebuilt these.

Don't know for sure, but think Plowmans (vender here) has a cam for those now.

thanks for the info. i put the motor back together, but need to tune it when i get it back in the cart. Everyone that i ride with tells me that i should have put a plowmans cam in it. I will keep you posted on how much i get out of it when i get it tuned. thanks

.008 on both valves cold, and I don't think there is a compression release.

I beleive the compression release was started on "The Drive" engine, it's part of the cam. As for more power with an overbore/head shaving and porting, can't see how you'd know the differance. I bet with a cam and advanced timing key you could. With it more fuel/air and redesighned exaust, you could have something. Had a guy offer to regrind some cams for me, but it seems to have fallen thru (sorry ESS), but I'll keep tyring.

Re-adjusted valves and now I'm running a little lean. Need to get more fuel but it had a noticeable difference at low end. Never really got it to top speed. Seems to be running alright. I appreciate all the info from you all. Thanks
