Default So how much damage could occur.....

As we were riding down the road tonight avg'ing 17mph or so on my 2004 PDS 36v, my 4 yr old pushed the button to reverse!! I put the button back to forward but could it have damaged anything? just curious.

No. If the cart had a stock control it probably tried to stop pretty hard... But no damage was done.

Hope your son is okay after discovering how "Plug" braking works in a PDS cart.
Unless he has mighty long arms, he must have been standing in front of the dash to reach the F/R switch and deceleration from 17MPH to 2MPH must have been pretty quick since full Regen Braking was applied.

For the technical purists, the difference between Plug Barking and Regen Barking is what happens to the electrical energy produced when the motor is converted to a generator.
With Plug Braking, the electrical energy generated is converted to heat, which is dissipated in the motor and controller.
With Regen Braking, most of the electrical energy is returned to the battery pack, hence the term "Regenerative" is used to describe it.

The PDS system is designed for Regen Braking, so like Scotty said, no damage was done to cart.

I run in the Mild Hill mode mostly these days, so I get Regen Braking every time I lift my foot off the pedal for over a second.
It's not nearly as intense as what you encountered, but it is done repeatedly.

Yup it was a big "EEERT"!! Momma was driving and Jr was half sitting between Daddys knees. Needless to say it did'nt phase or scare lil Evil Keneivel!! And thanx for the info....
