Default I think my g1 carb is missing parts?

while cleaning and replacing fuel system I tore into the carb. The float wasn't attached to any pivot pin and now I'm not sure what else is missing, or where the parts went. On top of the float, is there supposed to be anything that sits there? like a valve that the float pushes up into the seat? or is it just a tab that covers the opening? the part pics I've seen don't show anything, what stops the flow of gas?
And if I remember correctly, it is a J14 carb. Which also would mean it was not original to an 86' cart.
And when I searched this, all I could find was 81' info.
