Re: Wheel Studs
I found some wheel studs today at work. Dorman part number 610-138. I compared them to my stock studs, they're a fraction of an inch longer but I do have the room to get them in. These wheel studs are commonly found on a massive array of GM vehicles from the 1960s on up.
I used Rib's knurl width measuring method using a Crescent wrench and the new ones are about .035"-.040" wider than the ones that came out of the hub, so I have feeling they're going to work. I'll post up later when I get home. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rnb-610-138/overview/ |

Re: Wheel Studs
Thanks TB, but yeah I got a pack of 10 studs out the door for $15.95 plus tax. Some of these carts places appear to be committing highway robbery...

Re: Wheel Studs
No they aren't, they fit perfectly at the splines, no spline "pokethrough" on the outside, if that's what you're asking. The hub hole depth and spline length match up perfectly.
To install them I just slathered the splines with some grease, stuck them through the hole, put a couple washers on the threads, put the lug nut on backwards (flat side towards hub) and pulled them though using my impact wrench. I almost (but not quite) want to do them all now, since the one wheel I've been working on has new studs and nuts and the rest are old and dingey. |
