Steering bind on Precedent w/4" lift
I installed the Jakes 4" lift with 20" tires on my 08 Precedent. My problem is that the passenger side front tire hits the headlight/bumper when turning hard to the left. Even worse, sometimes the spindle over-rotates and the tie rod end locks against the upper arm. At that point I cannot steer. I get off and pull the tire outward to get it back to a steerable state.
I tried a few adjustments but after 2 hours of fiddling I can't get my mind around a solution. I'm probably overlooking the obvious, like limiting the steering travel on left turns. Any suggestions? |

Re: Steering bind on Precedent w/4" lift
I am certainly no expert on carts, just a newbie. But am thinking of adding a 3.5 Madjax. It appears to be a similar install. Just wondering if the steering box maybe off center. Even though the wheels are straight the box may be 1/2 turn off in one direction.
Good luck, someone else here will surely chime in. |

Re: Steering bind on Precedent w/4" lift
Found my own (embarrassingly) simple solution. I screwed the passenger-side tie-rod end out about 3/4" and screwed the drivers-side in by the same amount. I may have lost a few degrees of turn in 1 direction or the other, but now that the passenger wheel doesn't lock against the bumper I'm all good.
