Battery gurus Help - reserve capacity question
So these are the batteries my cart came with. Not sure about quality, but they are what I have for now. I was reading up on batteries on cartsunlimited and found the part about how long they will last on a charge depending, upon other things, the AH. When I looked at my batteries, there is no AH rating just Reserve Capacity. So I kept reading and that same article talks about RC right after AH.
Here's where I got confused. The article says its based on how long the battery can deliver 25 amps at 80 deg until the voltage drops to ... on a 12 v battery. My batteries say they have 107 minutes at 75 amps, and they are 6 volt. So, what does that mean for my batteries? Would they go 3 times longer than if the rating had said 107 minutes at 25 amps, or 3 times less? Thanks for the help. |

Re: Battery gurus Help - reserve capacity question
Having a 107 minute run-time equates to a storage capacity of about 210 AH at the 20 hour rate, or about 7% less storage capacity the the standard 36V battery pack made up of six T-105 batteries (6V - 225AH)
Due to the Peukert Effect, (As the discharge rate increases, the battery's available capacity decreases.) if that battery has a RC of 107 Minutes at a 75A discharge rate, its RC at a 25A discharge rate will be about 416 minutes, but that might be a little off since I don't know the actual Peukert constant for that specific battery make/model. |

Energizer GC2 (6V battery)
Amp-Hour at the 20 hour rate: 225Ah Minutes at 75 amps: 110 minutes Minutes at 25 amps: 447 minutes http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...gc2-specs.html your batteries will run til they are depleted .. you should never run them til 50% or 36.3v there is so many things to the "run time" .. driver ,wires ,weight ,road conditions, heat /cold ,tires ...ETC the best test is for you to drive them around and see when they get to 36.3 v |

Thanks Crash. I'm expecting my digital battery meter any day now. I'll get a better feel for it once it arrives and get's installed.

I'm not sure where the poster in the other thread got those specs, but the Energizer website doesn't have any battery specs. Here is what Sam's Club posts for the economy grade Energizer GC2: http://www.samsclub.com/sams/energiz...prod6750008.ip And here is what they publish for the Premium grade Energizer GC2: http://www.samsclub.com/sams/energiz...navAction=push Economy = 107 Minutes = 208 AH Premium = 122 Minutes = 232 AH I don't completely trust battery specs published by anyone except the battery manufacturer and I don't trust all battery manufacturers, but in these instances the specs published by Sam's Club are consistent with specs for 208AH and 232AH batteries from other battery manufacturers. ----------- BTW: GC2 is the BCI Group Number and categorizes physical dimensions rather than electrical properties. |

Re: Battery gurus Help - reserve capacity question
Bingo Johnnie! Those links provided the info I was looking for. I found the one for the premium, just couldn't find the economy ones I have. Not sure why though.
Anyway, thanks for the help folks. |
