G9- Won't quit "starting"...

Starter Motor continues to turn the engine over after releasing the gas pedal. The kill switch checks out ok. Only way to get it to stop is to unhook the battery!
Any ideas? Big weekend coming up!

Could be a "stuck" solenoid or beleive it or not...a bad voltage regulator! Check for continuity on the 2 big posts of the solenoid, should only have continuity when pedal pressed.

Ok, thanks for the insight. I had an idea about the stuck solenoid. I'll give that a check in the morning. I really appreciate the quick response.

So, I couldn't wait til morning. The solenoid appears to be "stuck"- is rings though without the pedal pressed.
Is it serviceable or is it just replace?

Just replace it. Remember it is a countinues duty solenoid...You can't use a Ford auto solenoid. Do not cheap out on this. Get the right one for your cart.

Would an Auto Parts store keep continuous duty solenoid?

No I believe you need to go the a golf cart shop or one of the venders here.

I am having the same condition but it is not the solenoid or the start/stop switch. I have replaced the solenoid with a new one so I know the condition is not in the solenoid. The start stop switch tests fine. Here is the situation, it continues to "start" even after the pedal is let up until you unplug the voltage regulator then it stops. With the VR unplugged it works as designed always. There is a brown wire that comes off of the output (motor) side of the solenoid that runs up to the VR. If you disconnect that wire and leave the VR hooked up it works as it should. Has anyone else had this happen? Is my VR bad causing this issue? I have inspected and tested the wiring harness and I am confident it is ok. If it was in the wiring it would do it all the time and not stop when the VR is unplugged. The solenoid's engagement wire (red/white) stays hot during this condition. The only thing I can figure is an internal failure of the VR. If someone can point me in a different direction I would appreciate the help. If no one has any other ideas I guess I will purchase a VR. Anyone have a known good OEM VR they would sell me?
