Default Yamaha G8 Forward and Reverse switch

Hey guys and girls, having a problem with the forward and reverse switch on my G8. Seeing as how the whole switch is outrageous too replace, can the relays or whatever be replaced? My cart just stops when I move selector from forward to reverse.

Might won't to better describe your problem. It should stop when switching for a second. Are you going from one direction to the other with out letting off the accelerator pedal?

No Craig it just stops when I move from Forward to reverse or vise versa. It eventually moves again but stops again. I am thinking maybe a bad solinoid.

Larry I am low tech but I have a wiring diagram I can fax you. It looks like the pink wire is only for the backup buzzer

If it were the solenoid it would do it all the time...not just when you switch from F to R. Sounds like your F/R switch or micro is bad.

I have been looking at all of the parts places and I don't see and F&R switches for a 91 G8. The ones they list are for 93 to 95. I was told a G9 switch was the same? Anyone got any ideas? I am thinking it is the micro switch. I took the old switch off and took it apart. The copper contacts looked good and everything was free. The top micro switch is just for the buzzer but not sure what the lower (driver side) micro is for?

Your G8-e should have a JF3 f/r switch assy. At home my parts CD shows J41 micro switchs for "reverse buzzer" and "neutral lock out" and are available seperatly from the switch assy, but for some reason my mind tells me you have "reed" switches and are now available seperatly If you can (with a volt meter/continuity) check the lower micro switch, there should be continuity in forward and reverse, not in neutral. Can you give a serial# or a picture? Have you tried "lubeing" your charger receptical "charge lock (white) push button? Just a thought. Later Dave
