Default What is Plug Braking?

I see many Series controllers that say they can add "plug braking."

What is this?

Plug braking slows you down when you let off the throttle. Stock controllers don't work very well if at all. Its similar to regen but only in slowing you down. The Alltrax controllers can be programmed for a plug braking % and they actually work.

Does it come on all the time ? Is there a switch to turn off until ya want to use it?

What might be the pro/con views to using plug braking ? Seems it might be good to use in an emergency if you can switch it off/on.
Ppl that like the system explain the pro I guess.
But also see some don't like it but seem to be short in explaining the con.

If you have a stock controller there is no switch to turn it off. You can however re-wire the carts as if you didn't have te A2 terminal.

An Alltrax controller has an option to disable plug braking within their programming software.

If I understand right it comes into operation only if you throw the F/N switch to change dirction before you have come to a stop.
Is this what enables its operation ?
Folks usually end up drawing a picture when splainen something for me...LOL

I believe that is the HPD function.

Assume HPD is high pedal disable.

To plug brake you reverse direction with your F/R switch and apply throttle and use the motor to slow you down. The feel is the same as regen braking but there is no power going back to the batteries. Instead the controller and motor have to dissipate the energy used to slow you down and brake shoes are much cheaper so I prefer not to use plug braking.
