tuned the carb and installed new electronic ignition. problem solved the gas no longer all or nothing

I use to make a lot of custom exhaust systems years ago. There are quit a few steel exhaust donut gaskets out there you might be able to use. Is the exhaust held in by bolts or studs and nuts. If you have studs make sure you double nut the stud so it doesn't back off and blow the gasket. The steel gasket will not blow if it loosens up. You just have to retighten it.
