so here is the plan
My buddy has a 1983 yamaha g1 that accidently drove itself down a hill into a tree. He has bought a 1989 g1 that isn't running but is not ceased and seems to have good compresion. So we are gonna put the 83 engine into the 89 frame with a 4 in lift. Then we are gonna take the 89 engine see if we can make it run, straighten the frame of the 83 and put a bed on it for yard work. Can anyone see any extreme issues or problems we may run into? Also does anyone have a pdf manual for these. We are triing to do this as inexpensively as possible since the lifted cart is for the kids and the other is just a yard cart.

Re: so here is the plan
There shouldn't be any major issues with this swap. There may be some minor differences between the two, but nothing major. I have mingled parts from various years of G1's with good success. The G1 in my avatar is a 1980 with a 1986 engine, later (1982>) wiring harness, and a G2 nose. You are likely to find a lot of old and worn-out parts as you proceed, but most parts are readily available from our site sponsors. Have at it, ask questions, and post pix!
