clutch bolt broke..
ok so we have a 03 club car carryall and i pulled the motor to put some new rings in it and there is a bolt broke off in the clutch.....
I think it might be a puller broke off it it because i can see threads right where its broke and on the diagram it looks like the normal clutch bolt only has threads at the end that goes in the shaft. and the puller has threads that go in to the clutch and a long shaft to push it off the crank? does the stock bolt thread into the clutch? or the shaft? and does the puller thread on to the clutch? and is the puller left hand thread or normal? |

Re: clutch bolt broke..
The threads for the clutch bolt goes into the crank shaft,
The puller threads just into the clutch itself, The clutch bolt is counterclockwise, (left to tighten) and the puller is clockwise (right to tighten)... and vice-versa Talk about confusing! |

It's possible that someone may have tried to "jury rig" a clutch puller and may have broke the bolt off. (rather then using the proper tool!) You should be able to remove that with a standard "ez-out" (left to loosen!) Hope this helps! Ya' just gotta love people that don't use the proper tools! |

Re: clutch bolt broke..
Finding a 3/8-24 X 5.50 Reverse thread, grade 6 (or higher) bolt in any Hardware store will be next to impossible.
Have you checked (called) any of the BGW sponsors yet? I'm sure Tom @ CPP can do something for you! (Note:) it won't be on the website, you have to call to see if he's got any "laying around" and... you might as well get the proper clutch puller also while your at it! http://www.cartpartsplus.com/ all else fails... a Club Car dealer CC part# 101916501 For the bolt, Plus, you'll need a 3/8 split lock washer, and a 3/8 type B flat washer. Hope this helps! |
