Default Building a Roll Cage

I believe most manufacturers call them upper brush guards for liability purposes but I decided to fab my own and put my personal touch on it. I started building the front and rear mounting points and have them installed and the main roll bar for behind the seat. The rest of the cage is laid out and I have started welding it together. Here is the front mount location in the dash. I'll get more pix soon.

Very cool My problem with true rollcages on Yamaha's is the mounting points to the main frame. As a remember, only Rifter actually tied it into the main frame. You could be helping out alot of G2/G9 members with this build thread, good luck!

I was able to attach the main roll bar to the main frame. The front brackets are extentions of the main frame that the front cowl bolts to. Not the most beef but the front section is only to keep limbs out of my face while riding in the woods. If it rolls, the large bar should keep it off of me I still have the rear body panel off in the pix because I was too tired to reinstall everything. Besides I still have to paint the cage so it will come back off.

The cage my cart came with was tied to the frame at the floor, but unfortunately much of the rest of that cage was not built correctly. I cut it completely off and have plans to build one in the future, mounted to the frame in the same location at the front.

Here are pictures of what the cage looked like . The cart looks nothing like this now .

1moretoy, your cage is looking sweet! Keep us updated
