Default Reliability

I am very new to the golf cart scene. I enjoy going to the drag strip and i usually take my pitbike. Well i have decided to get a golf cart. Yesterday i purchased a 96 48v series cart with a silver control box. The cart runs good and the napa batteries are 2 or so years old. I would like to do some small things with it but not get crazy. I would like to be able to tow around the 1700lb race car in the pits. If anyone has any ideas for me let me know ! Not into spending tons of money on it because the cart may or may not get replaced down the road with something newer. I have read on battery maint and will keep a eye on them. Thanks for any help or ideas !!

I think golf carts are designed only to pull their own weight and nothing more which is about 800 lbs. That is just what I have heard.

. . . people are using golf carts for this application . . . I work at a campground and routinely use gas and electric carts to haul utility trailers loaded with garbage, tree limbs and as tow vehicles for disabled carts . . .

By tow do mean on a trailer or dragging it around in neutral. Either way, I dought it would do that or at least not for very long without destroying it. Just my thoughts.

I have a friend thats being towing cars, on a flat surface of course for many years. He pushes them around the lot into the shop..these are full weighted cars,.not stripped racecars. So yea i think it would, but prolly not good for it. Ive worked on his cart 2 times in 6 years. May be best for some upgrades on ur motor and etc.

This all on flat ground and the little VW's are only around 1700lbs with driver ! At the drag strip you make a pass and then park at the top end. We then go pick them up and bring them back on a tow rope. I have to say when i am at a national even there is 100's of carts that are pulling race cars around so i thought it would be no big deal.
