Default I let the magic smoke out.

09 PDS. Bought it with no batteries. Had stock controller and solenoid. Solenoid had a melty spot so replaced with identical one. Made new 2ga cables for batteries. Hooked everything up according to manual as best as I could see. Turned on key, flipped tow/run switch and the smoke started coming out from behind where the freedom plug would go on the controller. Let me know if you all can see any wrong wiring or if you need more info or pics...oh, and guy I bought it from said controller might have been toasted already, he got it from a school non-running. (Also 1 batt cable missing in pic, took off for safety for now)

I'm realizing I should have turned the key on after waiting 30 seconds after flipping switch. Would that have smoked it?

Nope. Your cables look nice. Probably was already toasted.

Apparently you can get replacement smoke. It may be hard to find with all the supply chain problems, but it looks available. Good luck with the repairs.

Good to know Shooter. Now I gotta figure out whether its cheaper have it professionally done, or if I should buy the tools to put the smoke back in. Know of any good YouTube videos on instructions?

Is magic smoke the same thing as a expense cloud? I think I've had both.
