Default voltage meter

I have a 2009 Yamaha drive and need help hooking the third wire from the meter to the switch. The switch has two little rubber plugs below the positive and negative wires running into the switch. I pulled one of them out and it looks like the wire should just be pushed in. Which one of the two should I use?
