2013 TXT Sagging in the Rear - Add Heady Duty Leaf Springs? (pics)
Hello. My First Post
We recently purchased a rebuilt 2013 TXT. We've been looking for a couple years as we're avid campers and often rent at some of the campsite's we visit. My wife noticed when sitting on the rear of the cart she felt like he was sliding off the seat. So after some more inspection I found the whole cart is leaning or sagging to the rear. I've included pics of the current leaf springs, they look flat. Is that normal? Would adding Heavy Duty Leaf Springs reduce the sag? Thank you! <----------(F) Front----------(R) Rear-------> |

I have a 2006, same thing, back sits lower than the front and the springs are flat. Just installed a rear seat so my next upgrade is heavy duty springs, if that doesn't work, then I'll replace the shocks.

I just got a 2014 that's had no real use and the rear springs close to flat, so I would assume that's normal. But yours look bent up, like there is a kink in them, that's not normal for any leafspring. If that's the case, they are trashed, replace them with heavy duty springs, or better qualiy ones of the same rate. Shocks won't (well shouldnt) do anything to help the unloaded ride height.

Yes replace the springs. Whoever rebuilt it likely added the rear seat and did not change the springs. The factory springs are not strong enough to handle the extra weight of the seat and passengers.

Thanks for the guidance.
I've ordered the 4 leaf HD springs, bushings and u-bolts. I also considered the 3 leaf HD spring, however couldn't find much user feedback on them. Plenty of feedback on the 4 leaf system. Also found a couple YouTube videos, seems like a 2 beer job. Thanks! |

Thank you all for the advise.
Last night I installed the heavy duty leaf springs. The first side took me about an hour, the next side was about 20 minutes. Very easy job. An air ratchet does make things easier. The rear of the cart rose about 7/8" and is almost level now. Pleased with the outcome. Before: After: |

Doing mine this weekend, hope the bolts come out easy, I'm borrowing an impact just in case.

A few tips, when removing the rear of the leaf spring loosen the top shackle bolt. I found it to help the bottom one come out. Be sure to remove the shock. Also, I had a jack stand handy to rest the axle on, however I jacked the cart up at the rear bumper. |
