tail/brake light wiring question
I'm looking at the Liteseasy remote control lighting system for the DS. It has 3 circuits for rear lights. 1 for brake, 1 for turn signal, 1 for taillights. The tail/brake/turn signal LED lights I'm using are 2 circuit. 1 for brake and turn signal, and 1 for taillights. Can I put a diode in the line and tie the brake and turn signal circuit wires together? Sergio are you out there?? Help!

Re: tail/brake light wiring question
Yes you should be able to do that. In theory.

Re: tail/brake light wiring question
I talked to Joe at Liteseasy and he said there were 3 wires, separate brake, tail, and turn signal wires coming from their controller. My taillights are 2 wire, tail lights, and brake/turn signal. He said I'd have to buy a $27.00 adapter to convert their 3 wire system to 2 wire. I figure it consists of a couple diodes to block the back feed when you tie the brake/turn signal wires together. i have some diodes but I want to make sure I wire it up right. If I can save $27.00 I'm all in.

Re: tail/brake light wiring question
The power comes from the Controller so the diodes need to face the other way (Cathode or stripe side towards the lights).
At least You need two diodes for the brake line signal to be able to activate the brake lights but not back feed each other when either side turn signal is activated. The brake signal from the controller needs to be connected to 2 diodes (anode sides), then each of the diodes cathode (stripe end) connects to the turn signal wire for that side and a single wire goes to the each rear light assembly brake/turn signal bulb. If You turn your diodes around in the sketch it will work, the diodes in the turn signal wire may be redundant but could be needed in case the turn signal circuit is not isolated (front and back). |
