It is a federal law, it is no longer considered a "golf cart" if exceeds the speed.

You cannot buy a new Onward cart with 22" tires and speed code 4, the dealer cannot legally do it.

Of course we all do it on our own all the time.

It is not 'LAW', it is a 'specification'

6/1 half dozen the other..... The Fed's supersede what we want and the Golf Cart Manufacturers are bound by the Federal Regulations. Sergio is just pointing out and giving the possible reason why R80 is running into issues there. Different cart places (shops, aftermarket places, etc.) will do things differently then the manufacturer will as they do not have to meet the production regulations Club, EZGO, Yamaha, etc. do....

I have a Columbia par car I am running into the same issue the manufacture will not give the codes to give the full speed of the golf cart does anybody know where I can get these codes I have my cart

in the shop getting modified body wise and they’re trying to increase the speed but can’t get the codes from the manufacturer because they say it’s not street legal yet the specifications for the car say it can do 25 miles an hour right now it’s doing 18. My local dealer said he used to have a connection and the guy left and the manufacture won’t give him the codes all of the car is capable of doing it I don’t know what else to do if I can get some help I would appreciate it I have somebody who has the computer but just needs the codes.
Thank you in advance hopefully somebody will be able to help me

The reason I understand is because to sell a street legal cart would put their dealership in a whole new category. They would have to abide by all the rules and regulations of a new car dealer. That gets to be expensive.

My car has everything but the special windshield. Most carts around here are ezgo or club cars and are doing 23-29 mph

I think I could change the controller and the motor to make it go faster but if it already has that capability and I just need computer codes that’s the way I’d rather go
