Club Car DS - Are the front strut braces necessary?
I have a 2003 Club Car DS and it has what seems to be the old style front roof struts. They're silver and have the strut brace that connects to the top of the dash frame.
I'm thinking of removing the brace and maybe plastidip'ing the strut bars (I like the black look, and want it to match the rear struts). Are the braces necessary for support reasons? Thanks! |

with the rear seat maybe not. the brace gives suport front to back. why not dip them also and put back on?

With the extended roof, the braces may be needed. I would check the rigidity of that heavy extended top without the braces. By having a black cart, if you blacked the braces, they would almost disappear IMO.

I had a cart where they had been removed and the top was always strong.

I have a 2003 DS cart and I have had to get my right front w/s frame rewelded twice. Mine does not have the brace you show on pic. So maybe thats the reason for reinforcement.
I use my cart offroad, so that may have an effect. |

Re: Club Car DS - Are the front strut braces necessary?
Thanks guys - I may just plasti dip the braces and see how it looks. The roof I have looks like an older style that seems heavier than some of the newer ones.
Is the strut as easy to remove as it looks? I assume you just support the roof, then unbolt it at the top and the bottom (2 bolts into cowl). Any "gotchas" I should be concerned with? |

How did you remove the bottom nuts? is there special wrench needed.. on my ds the nuts look rounded
and are recessed in to the dash tight spot to grip even if werent round nuts. |
