Are any of the sub brand batteries by trojan, deka, etc any good
Yesterday I learned that the maker of deka batteries, east penn, also makes Duracell batteries. They also had a Trojan made off brand.
Are any of these batterys worth considering? |

Trojan makes Powertron- I’ve had good success with those. The East Penn/Deka Duracells have also been good for me. Those are often on sale at Sam’s Club.
I still use Trojans in my personal cart. |

No... Not highest amps... longevity... Trojans are tried tested and true... not as good as they once were but still better than most... a bit higher in price but mathematically over time, the better investment

Check out this chart made by JohnnieB from the Battery Info "Sticky" above. it list different manufactures and the Amp hour available from each. I am running a 6/8Volt setup with Crown CR190's and have been happy with them.

Re: Are any of the sub brand batteries by trojan, deka, etc any good
I've always used Trojan batteries, but the last set I bought (Oct 16) date code have not been as good as previous ones. I do all the right things as far as maintenance and charging but the range on these is down. I'll probably have to replace them in the spring. The East Penn batteries I bought for my DS project (April 2018 are much stronger. I expected 5 plus years out of the Trojans. According to JohnnieB's chart, at 2.9% down, I'm inclined to believe the East Penn is the better buy.

Trojan was bought out sometime in the last 2 years. They are on "double secret probation" for me. (Quote from Animal House, for those of you to young to remember)
