Well, it runs OK, but sure is gutless on the hills. Would upgrading to 48 volts help. or anything else for that matter ? lol
Thanx again,
Jim

Yes, 48 volts would make a world of difference over the stock 36 volts. BUT you may burn up some solenoids and switches running 48 through components made for 36. I've done 42 volts (1 more.6 volt battery ) on a resistor cart for a couple years with no problems. Some on here have done 48, but I can't tell you how long it went before things started causing problems. The way to do it "right" is to upgrade to a controller and solenoid designed for 48 volts. Your 36 volt motor will still be happy at 48 volts,. Much more efficient with a controller too. Better drive time /distance between charging.

If I add another battery for now, do I use the same charger ? Still, I don't think I have room for one...

Nope, 42 volts worth of batteries requires 42 volts of charger. If you look, you will find 42 volt cart chargers are available. I got by for a while with the 36 volt charger (still wired to the original 6 batteries) and a 12 volt automotive charger for the 7th. No need to disconnect them. Certainly not ideal, but it got me by for a while.
