2015 Precedent Under Water Flooded
I have a 2015 Electric Club Car President, serial number starts with JE1521.
My son drove it into a lake (he is fine). The cart was under 5 feet of water for about 30-45 minutes. I have tested all the batteries and they are at 8volts. The lights and other accessories work. Though the cart itself will not run. When I connected the batteries the resistor on the solenoid burned up. I replaced the resistor and the solenoid and the resistor burned up again. Any idea what to try next? I think there is a short somewhere but I am not very knowledgable of electronics. |

Controller isn't supposed to get wet...it got wet. Get a few 55 gallon drums of rice and put the whole cart into a kiddie pool full of it.

Should have disconnected the batteries and let it dry out for a month. To late for this guy but maybe some of you Laura victims could benefit from this.

Re: 2015 Precedent Under Water Flooded
The controller is actually mostly waterproof, but would not do well if submerged. Likely the motor has or had water in it as well. Any short in the motor will destroy any new controller you put on it, so you need to remove and inspect the motor for damage before installing any new controller.
It is also likely you will have damage to wiring in the main wire harness for the cart, the FNR switch, MCOR throttle, Tow/Run switch, and Key switch as none of those are designed to be submerged and will be damaged by water. As for batteries, open the batter caps and see if they are filled to the top with water. If so, they have taken on water from the pond and will very likely be damaged an need to be replaced as well. Pond water will dilute the electrolyte solution and will also introduce contaminates to the electrolyte which can and will damage the plates in the battery. |

Don’t forget wheel bearings and brakes, they need to be cleaned dryer and lubed as needed.

You can refurbish the batteries. Drain them, clean them out, refill and charge. It’s a more involved process than that, search for battery refurbishment.

Yelp almost everyone knows electric and water don’t play well together. But forget the water stays inside parts etc after carts or cars are removed from water.
