Default Question on IQ vs Excel

We have been renting golf carts for a few years and decided to buy one.

When we rent. we normally get a Club Car Precedent, and one of the features my wife likes is the IQ system that applies a self break when you let you foot off the gas.

When we went looking for a cart we found an 06 club car DS that had IQ on it.

We had it custom made and build, but on delivery the car did not break, only slow down slightly, but never stopped.

This was a huge difference from the Pecedents we rented. Where on a hill or at a stop light the cart never moved.

This cart we had built could not stay in place without a parking break on in my drive way.

It was a beautiful looking cart that I was sad to pass up, and it did upset the builder, but we were under the impression the IQ system was the same in the DS as it is in the Precedent.

I want to avoid this in the future.

What should I be looking for?

Is there a difference in the IQ system in the Precendent and DS?

and what is this about the Precedent Excel systems?

IQ is the same all around. Doesn’t matter what cart it’s on. The braking feature will not hold the cart completely still if on a steep hill, but it can come close to it.
If it has the stock controller it needs to be programmed so the regen braking is stronger. All easily doable by a shop with a curtis programmer.
If the cart has an aftermarket controller like Alltrax or Navitas then you can change any of those settings yourself.

Is the drivetrain modified at all? Controller? Motor? Piston pushback springs?
