Default 1998 Club Car DS - one piece seat back

Hey everybody, I have a 1998 club car DS, and trying to determine if there’s any way to mount the newer 2000 and up seat backs in place of the current 2pc seat backs in the front. Appreciate any insight!

Yes, we do it all the time, but we are most often doing it to carts with rear seat kits. The original backrest support brackets don't fit the plastic cover on the backrest used stock on the 2001 & newer carts. The aftermarket backrests usually have flat covers and can be mounted to the original flat (4 bolt hole) brackets. Don't need to use all 4 holes on each side though. I usually use 2 lag screws on each side.

You cut a couple pieces of 2” square tube about 6” length and drill holes through them to match up with the holes in the seat back. I think you need 2 per side.
Remove the old seat backs and brackets, and drill new holes in the uprights to match the height you want the new seat back. Use 1/4” x 3” bolts to sandwich it all together.

Thank you. The cart does have a modz backseat kit on it now.

We are also going to be mounting an extend a top on it, if you have any tips for that as well.

Can you recommend an aftermarket brand/model?
