Default 2001 cc ds. AC conversion 440 vs 600?

Plan is to upgrade my old resistor 36v ds to AC. Think I’m leaning towards 4kw for my cart as I don’t plan on lifting my cart and keeping stock tires. Is it possible to install a 5kw motor on a DS with out lifting? (Believe I read somewhere I could install a cc prescient rear end and it would work?). I would like to get 30MPH + out of this setup. Faster the better but 30 is the goal. If 4kw motor, what controller do I want 440 or 600? What is the difference other then amps? Will I see more speed out of the 600 or more torque if I ever installed lift and bigger tires. I live in Fl, in a boating community that is cart friendly. Any help is much appreciated. Also what site sponsor sells complete conversion kits, wiring harness, pedal box…..

Ordered 4kw and 600 amp controller (on back order) IQ conversion, and HD solenoid. Dave from revolution was a very nice person to do business with.

I just did a similar thing a couple weeks ago. 96 DS and I went with the AC 600 conversion. I don't think the 600 adds any speed, just torque if I remember right. Bought from Dave also, great guy and helped me a ton. Takes a little messing with to get the settings how you like but its a fun upgrade. With that and the Nissan Leaf battery swap I'm getting around 37-38 mph top end with tons of torque.

Awesome performance, hopefully it’s a smooth install. I’ve been reading about the leaf batteries. Are they just a drop in?

Got started on the AC conversion. Bought new batteries, removed old stuff. Got the Mcor installed (directions didn’t really help). But I got it done. Now replacing all bushings in the front end while it’s on jack stands. Then installing new leaf springs while waiting on the motor. Anyone that has any tips or tricks I’m a boater by no means a golf cart expert.

I just finished a AC 4kw on a DS lifted with lead acid batteries and it is hitting 35mph. You will have change settings in the app to get that though.

Nice. I’ll be happy with that! Did you remove the body to do the install? I’m not planning on reming the body.

Well, it was s complete rebuild, so yes I installed it with the body removed. I don't see where you would have to, but it will make it a little easier.

Finished changing out all the front end bushings, driver side hub, and tie rod fittings. Wrench slipped and cut the index finger pretty good! Alignment looks a lil off but no batteries in the cart so going to do final adjustments after it’s all installed and running. Next up is install hd rear leaf springs, removal of shocks. Hopefully motor controller is delivered beginning of next week. My 2 year old is not happy the cart is down!

I am doing an IQ conversion on my 1995 with a new 10HP motor. I took the body off I'm 79 yrs old and there is too much stuff in the way. If I could have gotten the cart up higher than jack stands I might have tried it. With body off I have a clean line for the new wiring. Since it's off I'm going to paint it bright red using spray cans. Took the front off so I could paint it.

Good luck on your install
