1984 Club Car DS drives slow
Ok guys, I just put new Costco batteries in my 1984 Club Car. I charged the cart all night. However the charger end gets very hot when delivering 30amps. After awhile it dropped to 15amps and it was a lot cooler.
The good news is that the cart moves, but only goes 6mph. I have found two battery cables to be pretty bad and I have a whole new set on order. I'm not sure if that will limit my speed but even if I have contact still. My question is, where should I start next? Should I replace all the solenoids and resistors? Speed switch? I'd rather replace what is broken rather than just guessing. Thanks for any help. |

Re: 1984 Club Car DS drives slow
well you may have a resistor coil bad or a solenoid that has failed for top speed.
The bad news is that cart is not a speed demon I bet 10mph might be top speed. 6mph is to slow check to make sure your solenoids are pulling in. Its time for an upgrade if you don't have much money into the cart it is worth putting a solid state drive conversion in it. To bad you didn't know about that before buying 6v batteries you could have done a complete swap to solid state and 48v system Where are you located? |
