thats what they are i scraped them with a screwdriver and there is cooper under the coating so i went ahead and used them. thanks for the help everyone

TB yes dissimilar metals corrosion is real and needs to be protected against in certain cases, ie aluminum wire and other metals connections, and even non electrical situations. But reading this thread would send some readers out searching for Penetrox thinking it is necessary. Battery terminal corrosion is probably the most common cause of golf cart break downs but any wheel bearing grease works well as do the commercial battery terminal sprays that all electric cart owners should have.
