Dead Short
I'm new to this so bare with me. 2007 PDS, ran fine then last night it blew the 60 amp fuse on the pos battery post. If you touch the cable to the post it sparks like a dead short. I removed the cover from the controler and eveything looks fine, no burn, etc. Where do I start?

Re: Dead Short
That's a pretty good short. Best if you could post a pic and show what all is connected there on the fuse? Is it just the charger or ?

Re: Dead Short
Thanks. It is the pos post. The fuse was on the post, then the charger and cable to the controler were connected to the fuse.

Re: Dead Short
A 60 amp fuse is used for the charger. A fuse nearly equal to the controller draw is used for the controller cable IF a fuse is used there at all...... Originally it did hot have one, some aftermarket controllers use 3-400 amp fuses.
Switch the run/tow switch on the controller cover to TOW. Place the main Positive from the controller solenoid directly to the Pack Positive terminal and replace the Charger 60 amp fuse and connect to the same post ... When the connection is complete flip the run/tow back to run & see if she runs now.... |

Re: Dead Short
When you touch the cable from the controller to the pos terminal you get a LARGE arch. That is what makes me think there is a dead short.

Re: Dead Short
With the cable disconnected, will the rev buzzer run? Put the cart in reverse and hold the peddle to the floor until the reverse buzzer stops. This will drain the stored voltage in the controller. Then reconnect.
