Amperage= torque
Voltage= speed

so a cable upgrade will give me more torque?

One more quick question JohnnieB. The thumbnail #2 on the chips it shows different number of beeps below the chips. What does that mean? If the beep indentifys the chip when does the beep sound??

Maybe so, maybe not. It depends on how undersized and/or how bad your existing cables are.

If they are 6Ga or smaller (larger gauge number), they are probably too small and you may get a noticeable increase in torque.

If they get hot, they have too much resistance and replacing them will get you more torque and possibly a wee bit more speed if it is a series cart. A PDS cart is RPM limited by the controller, so the cables have to be really bad before they reduce the top speed, but torque gain was noticeable when I went from fairly good looking 4Ga cables to 2Ga cables.

The high current path in both series wound and shunt wound (PDS type) motors is a series circuit and any resistance in any cable connection or component reduces the voltage applied to the motor, which in turn reduces current flow through the motor. The trick is to reduce the resistance in the cables, components and connections to the absolute minimum to allow the maximum amount of current to flow through the motor. (Note to nitpickers. I consider the field current in a shut wound motor to be medium current relative to armature current.)

When the electrical energy leaves the battery, two things happen. Part of it is converted to heat and the rest is converted to motion.
In golf carts, heat is energy lost.

I think no beeps means, no chip is installed or freedom chip

The beeps are part of the PDS self diagnostic system. There should be instructions on the controller cover showing how to put the cart in diagnostic mode. The beeps will confirm which chip the controller sees at power-up.

I calculated it today and I am getting 24mph. Can somebody post a link for me for a pds controller relatively cheap or point me in the right direction. Thanks!
