Speed & Torque
I can't seem to find the answers that I am looking for. I have a 2000 G16e that has the Jakes 6" lift on it with 22-11-10 tires. It has brand new Trojan batteries installed and I want to add speed and torque, my idea is to change the gear out to a 8:1 and add a 500A contoller. I am hoping someone can give me some insight on whether this will give me the best of both worlds or what issues it might cause by doing this. What other suggestions do any of you have?

Re: Speed & Torque
Generally speaking the tire size increase from 18 to 22 inch is a 25% increase in the final drive gear ratio, this will require the motor to access an equal amount of increased amperage to break even (not loose torque). An additional gear gearing change of 8:1 from 12:1 is another 25% increase. If the cart is originally 36 volts you can increase the operating voltage to 48v and the cart should do give you a significant increase in speed and maintain the torque needed to overcome the increase in tires and gears
