Default RXV strut rods

I have a 2012 RXV and have owned it 6 years or so. Back in the middle of 2020, while a lot of people were quarantining, I some front end work and also put new struts on my cart. Everything has been fine until today. Initially it looked like I broke the right side (passenger) strut. But after further investigation, the strut piston shaft that screws into the upper mounting eyelet, pulled completely out of the threaded female end of the eyelet. It looks like the piston shaft was only screwed into the eyelet with about 2 threads. Obviously, it stripped those threads. I have called the supplier that I bought these struts from and they will ship me a new strut on Monday. My question if anyone knows, is this a common practice to only have a few threads screwed into the eyelet? Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Thanks
Rich
