Default Just bought old gas cart

Lot of questions?
year?-Plate # 80010 and 205760
3 wheels .Robin engine, all metal body.

I was told Runs only when hand is over carb inlet.
Do I need to rebuild carb?
is this a 2 cycle engine? ratio(oil to gas)if it is?

Hellop Gardner,

I do'nt know the engine, but in your case it doesn't matter for the problem.

Your problem is a lean mixture, so the air - fuelratio isn't right.
It gets not enough gas or to much air.
When you hold your hand before the inlet, you are getting less air in the carb / engine.

Not enough gas:
Clean the gasline from tank to the inlet and look if the floater and its valve is in good shape.
Does the fuelpump work proper?

To much air:
Is the carb closed when stationairy running?
2 Stroke: Are the seals tight, so not leaking air , around the cranck.
Is the lower seal under the cilinder allright, not leaking.
Is there a airleak between carb and engine?

if your planning on keeping it i would just spend the money and tear it down. put all new gaskets and crank seals in it and give the carb a good cleaning. you'll be much better off in the long run. if it has a leak you will trash the bearings and/or burn it down....
