2009 Club Car Precedent IQ
I have a 2009 Club Car Precedent IQ that had a lift kit, lights, large tires and a rear folding seat added in 2012. I have installed a heavy duty solenoid, #4 wires and a DCX500IQ Alltrax controller. The cart will not move and I put my old 250 amp Curtis back in to get it running. Sure wish I could get the 500 amp controller to work, need to increase the torque.
Any suggestions? |

Re: 2009 Club Car Precedent IQ
Thanks Scott,
I'm still waiting for a reply from Buggies Unlimited or Alltrax tech to confirm it's the controller. I was very disappointed after installation and the LED went solid green indicating the controller was ready to go, the solenoid closed when pedal was pushed but the cart would not move. |

2009 Precedent You may have a TPS throttle instead of an MCOR, You may want to check it since the Altrax will not work on an TPS.

Sergio,
I think it has a factory recall MCOR upgrade with the six pin adapter between wiring harass and the two and three pin inputs on the MCOR. This is new to me and a little confusing trying to figure this out. |

Re: 2009 Club Car Precedent IQ
I never heard good things about the Buggies Unlimited tech support, and Alltrax may not be much help either as it relates to a particular implementation.
I looked at the wiring diagrams for the 2009 model and the IQ with a factory TPS installed shared some common elements with the Excel model harness. The TPS model used a common negative with the speed sensor and Yellow/Black dashboard voltage meter wire. You will need to disconnect the Black-White wire from the 6 pin TPS to MCOR adaptor, or the purple wire from the MCOR 3-pin plug. The reason for this is that the Alltrax controller only uses the top part of the MCOR as a 5kΩ-0Ω rheostat, so if You leave the negative wire connected to the bottom of the MCOR, it will interfere with the signal as seen by the controller. |

I have a 09 IQ with a 500 Alltrax I got from Scottyb. Had no problem with it. Maybe scotty will chime in and give you a hand.

Re: 2009 Club Car Precedent IQ
Texan, unless your 2009 IQ had a TPS to MCOR adapter, the wiring harness is not the same.
That brings a good point though, if Scottyb made a few extra MCOR to Alltrax resistance range adapters, that would both solve this problem (isolating the negative from the MCOR) and improve the usable range of the MCOR when used with an Alltrax 5k-0Ω setup: OEM vs Modified MCOR range graph . |

Re: 2009 Club Car Precedent IQ
Thanks for the info. I will re-install the DCX500 for the third time and try the wiring changes suggested. I removed the adapter and wired directly from the harness to the MCOR as recommended by a Alltrax tech, but cart did not move and charge gauge went batty. I keep putting the old 250 amp Curtis controller back in trying to keep my wife from finding out I had made this investment until I had the cart working properly. Waste of time, she looked at my account and asked me what I spent all the money on! I will leave unit in now (sense I'm busted) until I resolve or give up on this upgrade. I really need some increased torque in the hills of northwest Ga.
I checked out Scottyb's website last night and wish I had heard about him before I started this project. Great info. Dan |

Re: 2009 Club Car Precedent IQ
If You disconnect the purple wire from the MCOR 3 pin connector, it should fix the problem with the throttle.
You can then use a direct negative wire to the battery gauge instead of the Yellow/Black wire that it is currently plugged to. |
