Charger question

I have a 03 club car 48v. It sits sometimes for a week or two between uses. Depending on the work schedule. I keep batteries full of water, all connections clean. After each use I let it cool down before hooking up charger. It has set for a week and a half. I went to use it today and the meter was reading 48.6volts. On the chart I have , It tells me 50% of usable is 48.4Volts. With the cart sitting so long between uses would I be better off leaving the charger hooked up and plugged into the wall? Or just charge until the charger turns off and unhook? I do not want to burn up the batteries. But like today when I wanted to run into town, But did not dare take it for the 5 to 6 mile trip with the meter starting out so low? any advice would be great thanks.

The general train of thought is if parked plug it in... Better yet upgrade to an DPI Accusence Float charger and it will keep your batteries fully charged all the time... After a full charge the Power Drive charger works by counting off the days before turning back on to recharge your batteries; I'm not sure if it was 15 or 30 days...

I agree with teecro. The original charger will charge the battery pack up and turn off and it won't turn back on for 2 weeks. Your batteries will typically lose between 1-2% of their charge per day just from sitting. You need a charger with a float mode like teecro was suggesting. It'll charge the pack up and maintain a full charge as long as it's plugged in.
