Default 1996 EZGO gas questions

Hi guys

I am new to the cart customizing world. I recently bought a camp lot in a campground that came with a golf cart . I have seen the cart briefly when I looked at the lot. The battery was dead so the owner was going to replace it before I bought it. He assured me it runs fine though.

I do have a few questions. The only information I have from the owner at this time is that.

1) It is a 1996

2) It has a mountain clutch in it (what exactly is that?)

3) It needs a gas tank because the top of the tank is cracked.
Where can I get a replacement gas tank, and how hard is it to replace?

4) How do I tell if it is a TXT, RXT, or Marathon? I do have the VIN number if that will help.

The cart does have the rear seat and a full enclosure with doors (which I plan to remove the enclosure). My plans are to add a stereo system and a 6" long travel lift and probably 23" tires. What else needs to be done to the cart when adding a lift and larger tires? Do the breaks need up graded as well? Will the cart still have enough power to get around?

I am looking for any advice your willing to offer.

Thanks
Brian

Put up some pics. The mountain clutch is probably referring to a 28 degree clutch which gives a little more lower end torque. The tech section has a link to check your numbers for year/make etc. although it is probably a TXT. A search of the site sponsors will help you locate a new gas tank.
