Default Air in fuel line

I have an 89 marathon that I'm putting back together and runs great but have noticed that the fuel line between gas tank and pump seems to accumulate air in it somehow, the fuel line between pump and carb is always full. It doesn't seem to have any effect on the cart but seems strange if it was full at one time and has never ran dry and all connections are clamped where did the air come from? Or is this normal? Thanks

The line between the tank and the pump is under suction.
The smallest of holes, cracks, or loose fittings can allow air to enter.
I suggest you check the line and fittings between the tank and pump.
If the hose is hard i suggest you change it.
The pickup tube that goes into the tank may also have an issue like a crack or hole.
Look in the cap and follow the pickup tube all the way down looking for any issues.
If you change the hose closely inspect the fittings. Can hook up a small clean hose to the tank and gently blow in it. Not enough to blow bubbles just enough to listen for a leak in the pickup tube.
I highly recommend you fix it before it becomes too bad of a leak and looses prime.
It may just not start one day after a little sit or possibly but unlikely strand you while running. But this being one of those little annoying little gremlins It could also run for years and never cause any issue at all.

Thanks for the reply, I'm quite confident that it's not hose or connections since hose , clamps and filters are new. However this cart had been sitting for a long time and I'm sure tank pick up tube is original equipment, I will give that area a closer look. Thanks again
