Thumbs up 85ish ezgo 2pg not sure if I'm missing parts

Hey guys first time I've ever posted in a forum but I have a ezgo 2pg and I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing the starter/generator. I don't have one that mounts up top and runs off its own belt but it starts and runs good it just doesn't charge. The wires all come from the cover where the cooling fan is please help me

Read this thread. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...explained.html

1979, or older with an internal starter.

Your cart has a 4 terminal voltage regulator that is impossible to find. That's most likely the culprit. There is talk of being able to convert to the newer three terminal regulator, but it's hard to find that information. I'll see what I can find for you besides this thread. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...tor-relay.html

I would suggest opening yours up, and cleaning the points in it. It's worth a shot.

This might help... http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-e...l-starter.html

So what is keeping me from just buying the newer s/g and putting it on and taking the internal one out?
