Default 82 Marathon - EC25-2PG Blown cylinder head

1982 MarathonBack story: Cart backfiring - slowly losing power - stopped - very low compression. So with lots of troubleshooting that got me nowhere i pulled the engine and stripped it down. Geez. It blew one of the cylinder head bolts out and cracked the threads holding it on. Apparently these are very hard if not impossible to get? Everything else seems fine.. other than some scorched gaskets but no scoring of piston or cylinder walls

So i guess i am looking for suggestions in what to do ?

Is there a modern replacement engine that i can just swap out (EC25-2PG)?
Or should i just scrap the cart and start new with something else?

Any suggestions, thoughts or concerns are greatly appreciated.

Feeling pretty bummed out..

Beav

Which part are you saying is hard to find? The cylinder head or the bolt? Both can be found at a golf cart parts sites.

As for replacement. Unless you put another 2 stroke in its place, you will lose reverse. My advice is to rebuild it.

Did it crack the cylinder where the bolt screws in or just strip it out? If it just stripped/pulled the threads out, helicoil to the rescue. Can you post some pics?

Would more than likely be your best option. I have seen some on flea bay, but who knows what condition they are in. And the prices I've seen anywhere from 40 to 150. So....

But let us know how it turns out. Possibly take it to a machine shop?? Or find a donor cart?
