Does Your meter have a diode test function?

If not, set your meter for resistance test and measure the diode resistance, then switch the probes around and measure again.

You should get some resistance in one direction and 0L on the other direction.

There is a good possibility the diode got damage when you powered it in reverse polarity and you don't want to install a shorted or non-functional diode.

The side of the diode with the band goes towards the positive wire.

Do you still have the diode from the old solenoid?

Ive had the cart for about 2 months and ive been running it ever sense without one .. because i never had one
