newby finds a G1
bought this 82 G1 for $80, it didnt have a carburator when I got it, ordered one from Amazon for $19, mounted it, and it fired right up. It runs great, It has big turn signals in the front and in the back, it has brake lights and turn signals. The front end looks like it was too close to a fire, I'm hooked, what a great hobby. I need new seats, headlights, a paint job, and some atv tires....and the list goes on

Great score! These things are a blast. Im giving away a driver seat for just shipping costs if you need it its in the for sale section. Lots of great info here for the J17.

Re: newby finds a G1
Thanks for the seat offer on my J17, but I think I'm going with some different seating, I also have an old 85 Polaris and the rear wheels do fit on my cart.

Boat seats are pretty cheap and reasonably comfortable. link to service manual http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/garag...ir-manual.html remember the 82 G1 (J17) is a little different than all other G1's. Lower compression, different jug, reed cage exhaust ect. Still a great little engine. BTW does your exhaust have the "butterfly" valve in it? |

Re: newby finds a G1
I sure don't know if it has a butterfly in the exhaust, thanks for the repair manual, that's going to help a lot.. I'm thankful this cart fired up so quick, it had sat for years. I put a little oil in the plug hole so I could crank it while I was waiting for the new carb. When I got the new carb, I slapped it on and cranked it for about 10 seconds and it fired right up. I adjusted the air/fuel screw and went for a ride.....

Re: newby finds a G1
no linkage from the exhaust and no valve, down the exhaust aways there is a hose that goes back by the carb, but I thought maybe egr?
