Re: 28 degree clutch question
27 in. tires are a huge load on the stock engine. Clock your driven spring to the last hole and put a power spring in the drive clutch. cpp sells a spring or use a comet pink spring. You can get the pink spring from Certified Parts they took over all of the comet stuff. While the secondary is apart mill the plastic shim between the sheaves down to.062", that will make the belt run about an 1/8" above the sheave and give more low end. That is what the clutch machining will achieve and will not affect the top end. I did a post on the shim mod. a while back, search for it, there were pics. of the shim.

Re: 28 degree clutch question
I don't want to hijack your post, but I have a 2007 ST350 that is a factory lifted cart with a 28 degree driven clutch from the factory. Is there any benefit to adding one of the heavier springs to that driven clutch. I bought one of the buggies unlimited clutch kits that has the rear spring and the front spring and "idle" kit. I bought before i realized that the 28 degree clutch was already different. Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: 28 degree clutch question
Maybe it isn't called a ST350, is is the ST with the 350cc engine, factory lift, 22" tires, and dump bed. I hope that helps clarify what I have.

Re: 28 degree clutch question
Yes it will help, but you should put a heavier spring in the drive as well. I highly recommend that that you thin out the secondary spacer or have the clutch machined.

I just got my carts out a few weeks ago with this nice weather and started riding them (winter is Heated Kubota RTV season ), the other week I bought another TXT and got it ready/sold to a buddy. For the red cart, I have 5" lift on the way. I am going to designated this cart as my off road "tough cart" that doesn't mind seeing some heavy use since it has the dump bed, brush guard, etc. Once the engine (or my patience thins) it could see a V-Twin swap. The faster I can get my hands on reasonable Briggs the sooner it will happen. |
